Writing Prompt

At 5:30 this morning, I walked into my daughter’s room to wake her up for school, and this note was taped to her mirror.

My first reaction was to blink the sleep from my eyes. I just knew I was imagining it, but no…

Then I thought, hum, I bet she has an interesting story to go with that. Yes, my daughter has very odd taste, she loves mismatched clothes and she paints every toenail a different color–but dressing like a Ninja on an ordinary Tuesday. I mean, really–how often do people need to remind themselves to dress like a Ninja?

I was right, she had an interesting story for it and what an interesting writing prompt. Go ahead, I dare you. 🙂

  1. HAHA – I had about five things pop into my head immediately and all had to do with teenagers being teenagers. See how you lead me down that path with your presentation of the prompt?

But I’m curious – what was your daughter’s story?

    1. You got it. It is spirit week and Tuesday was dress like a warrior. Leave to Kaitlin to dress up like a Ninja instead of something more obvious, like an Indian. Her school mascot is the Apaches. 🙂
On Monday morning we had a conversation about how her clothes didn’t match. Which is a regular conversation we have, because she never matches. 🙂 Later that day she text me “today is mismatch, so ha!’.
My response was, ‘Hhahhahaaa–aren’t you glad I made you dress funny’. 🙂

      1. Sounds like you will have some great ideas for character sketches living with a teenager. I wouldn’t know HOW to dress like a ninja. Guess it shows my advancing age…. a dinasour to today’s youth. 🙂
