Oh, yes, I’m all about highlighting my favorite authors. Today I bring you Intentional from MK Harkins. She’s recently finished a complete redesign of the interior and exterior. It’s sooooo pretty! And it’s totally free. I read this book a few years ago and I really loved it. Intentional was MK’s debut novel and she’s only gotten better with each book. Check out Intentional below and the follow-up Unintentional. For more MK Harkins’ books, you can find her here on Amazon.
Newly engaged and deliriously happy, Mattie and Jeremy look forward to a lifetime of marital bliss in their new home in Sedona, Arizona. But their perfect love disintegrates when Mattie discovers evidence of Jeremy’s massive betrayal.
With her heart in pieces, Mattie flees to Mercer Island, Washington intent to start over. Everything was going according to plan – until she meets Cade.
Tattooed engineer by day, lead singer in a rock band at night, Cade has experienced his own brand of pain with the loss of his college sweetheart. As their friendship deepens, it ignites a new flame within Mattie, soothing the constant heartache for her former fiancée.
Just when Mattie thinks she may have found another stab at happiness, Jeremy reenters her life, and with him, all the crushing memories. It’s soon clear, though, that the trauma from her past may not be quite what it first seemed.
Will the truth bring closure and a new beginning – or will it mean the end of both relationships forever?
Here’s my review of Intentional, written in 2014 when I first read the book:
Awesome read! Team Cade!
I had trouble getting into this book in the beginning. It wasn’t the story, it’s a wonderful love story. I just haven’t read many books written in first person and that took some getting used to.
Once I got beyond that, I devoured this book. It’s a great read with really fun characters and a villain you’ll love to hate. I enjoyed the sweet romance and the way MK brought the characters together…twice. I don’t want to add much detail to avoid spoilers, but I will tell you, through the first 1/2 of the book, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. When it did, oh boy did things change.
I thought Mattie’s character was very real and very likable. I always questioned Jeremy a bit, only because he seemed a little too perfect. And as perfect as Cade was, I felt comfortable with him right away.
Intentional is the perfect summer beach read. You’ll fall in love more than once and in the end, you’ll beg for more.
The sequel to Intentional, the debut romantic novel by MK Harkins, Unintentional is the heart-racing new work that follows the tangled thread of Cade in the aftermath of his heartbreak in losing the one woman he thought was his soul mate. After taking a hiatus from his job as an engineer, as well as his role in the band as lead singer, Cade reemerges in the Seattle music scene.
Enter Laurel, the tenacious and determined music agent. Laurel is determined to sign him, no matter how clearly reluctant he is. Though they try to resist one another romantically, the magnetism is as immediate as it is powerful.
Cade has every reason to steer clear of commitment and train his soulful eyes, heart-melting dimples, and sexy voice on every beauty competing for his attention. So why does he find himself truly, deeply, and unintentionally fixated on the one woman who is not so easily swept away?
More about MK Harkins:
MK has always been a voracious reader. After hitting a dry spell of reading material, she decided to write the kind of book she’d like to read. This resulted in the creation of her debut novel, Intentional. (Award for Best Sweet Romance – eFestival of Words- August 2014) Unintentional, Breaking Braydon, Taking Tiffany and The Reader soon followed. MK’s newest, Famous by Default, released March 2017. The follow-up to The Reader, The Jack, is due out 2018.
When she’s not writing novels, she likes to spend her free time traveling the world, splashing in mud puddles (She lives in Seattle, what can she say?), watching movies and reading (!) She LOVES to hear from her readers!
