5Her Deadly Touch

Her Deadly Touch is available for preorder on Amazon. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an advanced copy.

My Review:

Lisa Regan is officially the master of creepy! So be prepared to deal with all the creepiness (THE CANDLE WAX!!) and so many emotions you find yourself in the fetal position. Josie’s going through it in this one. Dealing with… stuff from the last book (no spoilers here!) and fighting to, well, get her fighting spirit back, she’s not sure how to deal with all the feelings she’s feeling.
But, that being said, she’s still Josie, and she’s still badass, and she proves it more than once by tackling people to the ground like it’s nothing. <--Always my favorite part of any Josie Quinn book.

The theme of this book is grief. It’s heavy because you’re not only dealing with Josie’s suffering, but you’re dealing with grieving parents of dead children. The only good part of how Josie’s feeling is that it makes her a little better equipped to understand the surviving parents because she can relate to how they’re feeling. Because of this, she will eventually put two and two together and find her killer. I can’t imagine how hard this book was for Lisa to write, knowing she’s also dealing with the unexpected death of her father, which happened mid-way through writing Her Deadly Touch. Knowing this, however, made it difficult for me to read. Lisa’s writing is so good and so heartfelt, I found myself in tears more than I’d care to admit, and I’m not sure that was her plan when she plotted this book, god bless her. lol
I know this is rambling, but I have a hard time summing up brilliance, so you’ll just have to read the book for yourself. Trust me when I say you want to read this one! You’ll be guessing until the very end, and by then, you will have convinced yourself that they’re all guilty—or not guilty—because Lisa didn’t make it easy! I had no clue! I had guesses, but they were all wrong.
Another absolutely brilliant Josie Quinn novel! Lisa Regan never disappoints!

My Review:

Great read! This was my first H.P. Davenport novel, but I don’t think it’ll be my last.
Childhood sweethearts turned broken-hearted strangers in this angsty story of hurt, healing, and forgiveness. It was an incredible journey, and I dare you not to fall in love with Raya and her band of faithful friends. She’s strong, resilient, and ready to move forward in life without Nolan, but… is she really?
When Nolan breaks Raya’s heart for seemingly no reason at all, she walks away from a relationship she’s cherished since childhood. While she goes on to college and builds the façade of a normal life, Nolan joins the military and vows that she’ll be better off without him, and she might have been, except…
No spoilers here; you’ll have to read the book to find out more, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
The Lies That Bind Us is a five-star story about heartbreak, healing, and forgiveness. Highly recommended!! Go, get it now. You won’t regret it.
Butterflies and Hazel Eyes cover

Butterflies and Hazel Eyes is available on Amazon and it's Free on Kindle Unlimited. Better yet, book two in the Butterfly Junction series comes out next week! Honeybees and Sexy Tees releases on July 20th. I've added details below.

My Review:

Being a huge Katie Mettner fan, I was expecting to love Butterflies and Hazel Eyes, but for some reason, I wasn’t expecting the emotional roller coaster she put me on. Have you ever wanted to just take a character in your arms and give them a long, warm hug? That’s how I feel about every character in this book. Maybe I want to hug everyone from the isolation of the Covid lockdown, or… perhaps it’s that Katie Mettner is an ace at making characters human, emotional, and loveable. Yep, that’s it. I bow to the master of character development. Katie always gets it right.
Charity isn’t your everyday hero, and have no doubt, she is the hero of this story, even though she’d never take credit. She is as sure about her work as she is unsure about the impact she has on the people around her. Having lived a nomad life for years, she doesn’t recognize true friendship and love when it falls in her lap. The acceptance she gets from the town of Plentiful is so confusing to her that she doesn’t know what to do when she’s faced with it. The inner conflict and turmoil really made me want to hug her. I can’t say more without spoilers. You have to read it for yourself to know what happens.
But don’t think that Gulliver isn’t a hero. He’s Charity’s hero, and she needs one. He’s been as equally hurt and let down in life as she has, but that doesn’t keep him from fighting for the girl. Even with their differences, he and Charity are perfect for each other, and that’s clear right away. The chemistry is strong between these two.
Katie has also added some strong and very loveable secondary characters too, and I’m thrilled she’s turning this into a series. I can’t wait to read Honey’s story. But not only that, in this book, the setting is just as much a character as Charity and Gulliver. Her descriptions of the Lake and surrounding area are so beautiful and so well-written (without being over-written) that I’ve immediately added Lake Superior to my bucket list.
Truth be told,
If you love small-town romance written with a breathtaking setting and whodunit suspense, then you’re going to love Butterflies and Hazel Eyes. Don’t let the #ownvoices tag scare you away. These characters feel more natural and live more emotional lives than most romance novel characters in the top 100 list on Amazon. It’s a 5-star read that will leave you wanting to save the pollinators and book a trip to the great lakes for a canoe ride with your soulmate.
