For Grandma

By: Etta James

At last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh, yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clovers
The night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Oh, yeah when you smile, you smile
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine
At last

  1. What a lovely composition. It’s filled with warmth and an uplifting of spirit. I love the way it ebbs and flows like a Celtic love song.

So beautifully done and the warm glow of the flower is so inviting.

    Bravo my friend!

  2. Ahh….. I knew I’d read about a wonderful, inspiring woman who found Love in her 80’s, but couldn’t find it initially in your (non) blog until I scrolled into the past.

I did go back to your older posts to re-read it after reading your reply.

Thank you for sharing the story of what sounds like a remarkable woman. I’m sorry for your (and her husband’s) loss but happy that she had the spunk to live life to its fullest.

I’ll bet Etta would be pleased to know that At Last meant so much to your grandmother.

  3. Dayner, I am so sorry you lost your grandma. Having dealt with grief alot over the last couple of years, I understand it. I encourage you to write as much as you can, whenever you feel something, even if they are hard feelings. 🙂
